ONYX, along with a venture partner, executed an outright purchase of IMAX Worldwide’ s Inventory ($18+ million wholesale cost), Machinery & Equipment, Accounts Receivable, Intellectual Property and more, in conjunction with the company’s Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. IMAX Worldwide Home was a home accessory importer and wholesaler of a variety of product categories from accent furniture to wall décor, lighting and other accessories. Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the company also operated a 500,000 square foot distribution center in Ontario, CA, as well as showrooms in Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Canada. Upon acquisition, ONYX executed a multifaceted asset sale strategy in such a manor as to protect brand erosion and maintain retail confidence and value in the company’s products and name.
